iPod and PodCasting

Posted by iandonaldson on October 22, 2007

Today was my birthday (yay).  The celebrations occurred at the weekend … and I’m allowed to because my actual birthdate is somewhat of a mystery (long story, way off topic).

Gifts comprised: clothes, which are very much appreciated since I stopped buying clothes for myself a long time ago.  Tie, cufflinks.  A four burner BBQ (surprise), which will take several nights to assemble (grrr), BBQ accessories. Food, cake, cards.

The big surprise today was my close colleague (we work hard together kinda like pilot and gunner — but let’s not speculate which one is tom cruise), gave me an iPod shuffle. Like whoa! Very unexpected, hard to accept, but he doth insist.

So tonight I’ve been fiddling with the iTune companion to get up and running with iPod shuffle (the one which is about the size of a large postage stamp, a clips onto your clothing, weight just a few grams).  Sound quality is remarkable!

Transferring music as a newbie was relatively straight forward.  But now I want some intelectual brain food loading on there an hopped over to Gigavox, through to IT Conversations and now have several hours of PodCasts related to Web2.0, ATOM feeds, which I’ve downloaded but it’s not so straight forward to now get it onto the iPod. Maybe I’m “not getting it”. Let’s carry on fiddling – the way all things are resolved (who needs instructions, help or documentation these days?).

Damn this PodCasting and RSS is addictive. I think I’ll need to upgrade my iPod shuffle to the one which can play video that way I’ll be able to get the full on experience of my favorite show: GeekBrief –http://geekbriefwp.podshow.com
